Gale Leech

Wellness Director

Gale is a certified International Sports Science Association (ISSA), Fitness Trainer, as well as an ISSA certified specialist in Fitness Nutrition. Prior to joining PartnerMD, Gale was a Certified Fitness Trainer with Hermitage Country Club in Richmond, Virginia and owner of her own fitness training company. Gale joins Kate Anderson, Fitness Specialist in providing PartnerMD members the very best in health and wellness programs.

Gale would like to remind PartnerMD members that they may select up to four Wellness Workshop sessions each year. Each 30-minute Wellness Workshop will be customized to your unique family history, current health profile and wellness goals. And can include topics such as fitness baseline, blood pressure management, cholesterol management, optimal nutrition and much more!

At your annual physical, Gale will design a program tailored to your specific needs and goals, with your medical history and fitness background in mind. Understanding the importance of nutrition in personal fitness, Gale will help members feel stronger and reach their health and wellness goals.

Kate Anderson, M.S.

Fitness Specialist

Kate Anderson is one of our resident trainers and fitness specialists for PartnerMD. She earned her bachelor’s of science in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech and her Master of Science in Kinesiology from James Madison University. She is currently certified with the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health Fitness Instructor.

“I love working with the doctors here at PartnerMD to improve the overall health of our members. I strive to help members attain their fitness goals, improve their lifestyle, and reduce the stress of their everyday lives.”

Kate moved here from Harrisonburg, Virginia where she was a personal trainer and a fitness assessment provider at Rockingham Memorial Hospital Wellness Center. She brings experience training and counseling persons of all ages and abilities. She also taught undergraduate courses in health and wellness at James Madison University. She is passionate about preventing chronic diseases through lifestyle modifications and enjoys working with members to begin exercise programs.

Richard Parisi, M.D.

Board Certified Sleep Physician

Dr. Parisi received his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Prior to joining Sleep Disorders Center of Virginia, he was Associate Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He was also Medical Director of the Comprehensive Sleep Disorders Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He has been Medical Director of Sleep Disorders Center of Virginia since 2002, and he is also Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the VCU School of Medicine. Dr. Parisi is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease (American Board of Internal Medicine), and in Sleep Medicine (American Board of Internal Medicine). He is nationally and internationally known for his research in respiratory physiology and sleep disorders.

Sherry Finneran, MS Ed., CFLE

Director, Executive Coaching Team

Sherry Finneran is a consulting executive and personal coach for PartnerMD. She guides clients in their efforts to set specific goals, focus on opportunities for growth, and change, manage stress, and achieve self-actualization.

Ms. Finneran is the co-founder and co-director of The Family Education Center. Since 1975, she has become recognized as an effective advisor to individuals, couples, families, and businesses. Her expertise ranges from problem-solving and stress management skills to parenting and marriage enrichment skills. She developed and teaches courses in team communication, mediation for business, family empowerment, and communication for individuals and couples. She has served as educational diagnostician in the Department of Psychiatry at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, and has spent over thirty years in private practice.

Ms. Finneran is adjunct faculty for the School of Business for the University of Virginia, Certified Trainer for the Virginia Institute of Social Services Training Association, and visiting instructor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Ms. Finneran earned her BA in Psychology and Special Education from Loyola University in Chicago. She earned her Masters Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University. She is a Certified Family Life Educator.

Eric Oritt, Ph.D

Executive Coaching Team

Dr. Eric Oritt is a member of the executive coaching team and a partner at The Westwood Group, a group behavioral health practice in the West End. He has been in full-time private practice with this group for thirteen years. His specialty areas include couples work and men’s issues. In addition, Dr. Oritt is an adjunct clinical faculty member in the Department of Family Practice at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine where he works with Family Practice residents, teaching behavioral medicine. Dr. Oritt also acts as a consultant for Disability Determination Services, a department of the Social Services Administration that evaluates applications for disability benefits.

Dr. Oritt came to Richmond in 1985 to take a position as a staff psychologist with the University Counseling Services at Virginia Commonwealth University, seeing therapy patients and training graduate students in psychology and social work, as well as psychiatry residents. He left the position in 1993 for full-time private practice.

Dr. Oritt earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and his master’s degree and doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Mary Jane Sale, Ph.D

Executive Coaching Team

Dr. Mary Jane Sale is a member of the executive coaching team. She assists Executive Physical clients in identification of lifestyle practices that relate to stress management and personal goal achievement.

Dr. Sale has conducted a general private practice of Clinical Psychology for over twenty-five years, working with adults, couples, families, children, and adolescents. Areas of expertise include learning, motivation and performance, and behavioral change. She has worked extensively with adults and children toward problem solution, adaptive behavior, and enhanced performance.

Prior to establishing her independent practice, Dr. Sale was employed as a school psychologist with Richmond Public Schools and subsequently as a staff psychologist at Commonwealth Psychiatric Center in Richmond. She has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology’s graduate clinical program at Virginia Commonwealth University and as a Clinical Instructor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the VCU School of Medicine. Her volunteer efforts include work with the American Red Cross Mental Health Disaster Services and consultative services at her local church.

Dr. Sale earned her B.S. in Psychology from Richmond Professional Institute, and her M.S. in Applied Psychology and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Plum Cluverius, PPC

Executive Coaching Team

Plum Cluverius is an executive coach who specializes in working with executives and professionals who are determined to operate at the top of their games. Plum has coached and consulted clients in large and small corporations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.

Plum is on the adjunct faculty of the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, and the University of Richmond’s Robbins School of Business. She also serves on the design team for the Virginia Healthcare Foundation’s leadership development program for the Virginia health care safety net. She has a Master of Arts degree in the Applied Behavioral Sciences from the Leadership Institute of Seattle. She is an executive coach with the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg’s emerging leaders program, facilitates executive dialogue groups for the National Association of Women Business Owners and is a member of the Association for Psychological Type International, where she was awarded the New Chapter Leaders Award in 2005. Plum is a Professional Certified Coach, a credential awarded by the International Coach Federation.

John Hugo, Ph.D

Executive Coaching Team

Dr. John Hugo is a member of the executive coaching team assisting clients to enhanced self-realization through stress management and personal goal attainment.

Dr. Hugo has been engaged in the private practice of Clinical Psychology for 30 years. The first twenty years were spent in a traditional office based clinical practice with adolescents, adults and families. The last ten years have been devoted to organizational consulting and teambuilding with a variety of school, business, and governmental agencies including the federal intelligence community and the U.S. State Department. The principle focus of these relationships has been executive and leadership development and personnel selection and screening. Dr. Hugo also serves as a consultant to nursing care and rehabilitation facilities across Virginia.

Earlier in his career Dr. Hugo served as Director of Clinical Training as well as conducting a hospital wide staff human relations training program at McGuire VA Hospital. He later served as Director of Psychology at Commonwealth Psychiatric Center in Richmond. Dr. Hugo has taught at both Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Commonwealth University. He also served as a gubernatorial appointee on the Virginia Board of Psychology.

Dr. Hugo earned his B.A. from the College of William and Mary and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama.

Jan Elliott Evans, PhD, RD, CNSD, Registered Dietitian

Executive Evaluation Team

Dr. Evans is a Behavior Change Agent, a Registered Dietitian and an expert in adult nutrition. She is in private practice in Richmond,VA (Elliott Evans Nutrition,LLC). She has over 22 years in the health management industry with a strong knowledge of human nutrition and dietetics, biochemistry, disease processes, and human and exercise physiology. She also possesses a comprehensive medical and clinical background with an emphasis upon human nutrition. With an astute knowledge and understanding of psychological and emotional issues surrounding weight management, nutrition and eating behavior, she has a proven ability to help others achieve their nutrition goals.

Dr. Evans consults with hospital and healthcare organizations throughout the United States, as well as with medical practices and private employers. She is a Board Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian and received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Richmond, Specialist and Doctoral Degrees from The College of William and Mary and her credentials in dietetics from Kansas State University and Sodexho Healthcare.

Lisa Raum, R.D.

Registered Dietitian

Lisa Raum is a Registered Dietitian for the PartnerMD Executive Evaluation Team and the owner of R.D. to GO, LLC. She specializes in medical nutrition therapy for metabolic syndrome, Type 2 diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, as well as wellness counseling for prevention of illness.

After beginning her career in the field of culinary arts, Lisa changed her focus to clinical dietetics. She now provides house call services for private clients, works contractually with medical organizations and corporate wellness programs, and serves as an adjunct professor in the health sciences division at John Tyler Community College.

Lisa holds an Associate of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management with a specialization in dietetics from Tidewater Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. Additionally, she has fulfilled all of the internship and exam requirements to obtain registration status as an R.D. through the American Dietetic Association. In the interest of furthering her knowledge and expertise, she is presently working toward a master’s degree in mental health counseling.

Lisa is passionate about educating, empowering, and inspiring people toward a long-term commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

Peter Nardone, O.D.

Optometrist

Dr. Nardone joined the Patterson Eye Clinic in 1985. He is a graduate of Hofstra University with an undergraduate degree in biology. He graduated with honors from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. He participated in externships in Boston at the Veterans Administration Hospital and several community health centers. He is board certified for the treatment and management of external eye diseases. Dr. Nardone is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Optometric Association, and the Richmond Optometric Society.

Edward Peck, III, Ph.D, ABPP-CN

Neuropsychologist

Dr. Peck, of Neuropsychological Services of Virginia, Inc. is a board certified clinical neuropsychologist who offers a memory assessment program for The Executive Health & Wellness Center of PartnerMD. This is an evaluation of neuro-cognitive function, including measure of memory, reaction to complex attention, and cognitive flexibility. During a personal consultation, Dr. Peck will evaluate results and provide specific recommendations to strengthen and maintain memory function.

Dr. Peck has been engaged in the practice of clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology for more than 30 years. He completed his doctoral training at Tufts University and his internship and post-doctoral fellowship through the Harvard Medical School. He has been in private practice in Richmond since 1984 and is the owner of Neuropsychological Services Of Virginia. He specializes in life-span neuro-cognitive and neurobehavioral functioning in healthy, normally functioning individuals and with individuals who have sustained various medical illnesses and/or physical injury. He is the author of numerous research papers, book chapters and scientific presentations in the US and Europe. He is on the clinical faculty of the Department Of Psychiatry at MCV-VCU and the Department of Psychology at VCU. He is active in grant research and his recent research has involved heart transplant and post-stent cognitive activities, as well as pharmaceutical activities with patients with dementia or multiple sclerosis. He also currently serves as a gubernatorial appointee to the Virginia Board of Psychology.

Dr. Peck has been named by Richmond Magazine as a “Top Doc” in clinical psychology for 2012. This is the first year that the award has been extended to the specialty field of clinical psychology.

Pam Owen

Massage Therapist

Pam opened Mind Body Spirit Connection in 2003 and provides massage therapy for the PartnerMD executive physicals. All of the massage therapists at MBSC are nationally certified and licensed by the Virginia Board of Nursing. The therapists who do massage therapy at PartnerMD are Jenna Shepherd, Jill Patton, Suzanna Blizzard, James Arbuckle and Pam Owen.

Joy A. O'Grady, PhD

Executive Evaluation Team

Joy A. O’Grady, PhD is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a specialization in Neuropsychology. Dr. O’Grady evaluates individuals across the age spectrum, and has a special interest in epilepsy and memory disorders such as dementia. Dr. O’Grady received her BS degree from Ursinus College, MA from American University, and PhD from University of Memphis. She completed internship training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a 2 year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Virginia Health System.
