Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) Scanning

The EBT scan is provided through our neighbor, InteCardia Life Imaging, the only provider in Virginia of this non-invasive technology. EBT is FDA approved for the early detection of Coronary Artery Disease, Lung Cancer, Colorectal Cancer and Osteoporosis. It is the only cardiac imaging technology whose efficacy is backed by the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins University and more than 300 research articles. EBT scans the body, heart, lungs and colon at 100 milliseconds per image, exposing the patient to less radiation than any other imaging system.

Our Executive Physical clients receive a full-body scan including colonography when appropriate. Clients receive a personal interpretive “tour” of their heart with a noted cardiologist and also have their results analyzed by a radiologist prior to their being published in the Personal Health Plan.

Lipoprotein Profiling

For the last twenty years, the most commonly used measurement of a person’s risk of heart disease was a lipid panel that provides cholesterol information. With total cholesterol of less than 200, people were considered to be at low risk for heart disease. In fact, over 50% of people with normal cholesterol levels develop heart disease. Lipoproteins are better markers for assessing this risk because lipoproteins, NOT cholesterol cause heart disease.

Lipoproteins are the carriers of cholesterol in the bloodstream. As the number of lipoproteins in the blood increases, so does a patient’s risk of heart disease. The NMR LipoProfile® is a state-of-the-art blood test that measures the number of lipoproteins in the blood, and therefore assesses a patient’s risk of developing heart disease. Lipoprotein profiling offers an advanced level of detection that overlays the traditional means of using a lipid panel to measure cholesterol. This combination provides an extremely reliable indicator of a patient’s risk of heart disease.

Fitness Evaluation

A thorough understanding of a patient’s fitness level is a prerequisite to the development of a plan for maximizing health and athletic performance. The PartnerMD® Executive Physical offers an in-depth evaluation of a patient’s level of physical fitness from a variety of perspectives ranging from physical strength and cardiovascular fitness to balance, posture, and past injury assessment. Working under the close supervision of a highly credentialed fitness expert, each patient undertakes a series of tests and exercises designed to reveal the subtle details of individual fitness. Specific evaluative subjects include:

  • Upper and lower body strength
  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Flexibility
  • Left vs right development and strength
  • Posture
  • Grip strength
  • Balance
  • Implications of past injuries to training and performance

The PartnerMD® fitness evaluation coupled with the nutritional analysis and other facets of the physical examination will enable our evaluative team reviewing each patient to collaboratively develop a specific plan of action targeting the reduction of risk factors and the maximization of personal performance.

Nutrition Evaluation

Without question, diet plays a critical role in a person’s health and wellness. A properly constructed diet tailored to the individual’s lifestyle and risk factors not only reduces vulnerability to major diseases but also improves one’s ability to function optimally on a daily basis.

The PartnerMD® Executive Physical includes a complete nutritional assessment. A registered dietitian will review your medical history, family history, laboratory results, and your food habits. After consulting with the other members of the Executive Physical team, she will provide you with specific dietary recommendations to meet your health and fitness goals.

Peak Performance Evaluation

PartnerMD® recognizes the effect our emotional state has on our overall health. We believe that a complete health evaluation must include an analysis of a variety of factors that may affect one’s physical and emotional well-being. Clients of the Executive Physical undergo a Peak Performance Evaluation which evaluates a number of factors including general stress, health habits, cognitive hardiness, coping style and general psychological well-being. The Stress Profile is reviewed by a member of our executive coaching team who personally meets with each client to discuss the significance of the test results and provide suggestions for improving your functioning on an executive level.

Physical Examination

The PartnerMD® Executive Physical includes an extensive physical examination. Among the many evaluations that clients receive are:

  • Extensive laboratory testing including CBC, Metabolic Profile, TSH, PSA, cs-CRP, Homocycteine level, and advanced lipid analysis
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG)
