“Our focus is on preventive and holistic care and that is the same reason that I first began in primary care, and the reason I returned to my roots,” said Dr. Ferguson.
Dr. Ferguson received her bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary and her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989. Dr. Ferguson is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine and the Society of Hospitalist Medicine.
Prior to joining PartnerMD in 2010, Dr. Ferguson practiced in both private practice and as a hospitalist at Memorial Regional Medical Center. Her interest in geriatrics led her to serve as medical director for the Bethany HealthPlex Nursing Home in Richmond.
Dr. Ferguson lives in Glen Allen, Va., with her husband and has one son. Dr. Ferguson’s hobbies include running, hiking, gardening and botany.
“Dr Ferguson saw me immediately for a serious knee injury. She referred and coordinated for a same day ortho appointment and follow on MRI. Very responsive and dedicated to my health and treatment.”

“Dr. Ferguson and Sarah are always there when there is a question or a problem. Sarah is extremely knowledgeable, but Dr. Ferguson herself will call you back if you need to talk with her. That means a lot when you are in pain or worried.” — Sandra A.
