Sodium is an essential electrolyte that helps maintain balance in the body. It helps with water and food absorption. This is especially important when transitioning from a relatively heavy carb intake (that normally has lots of sodium) to cutting carbs. Adding salt to low-carb meals can reduce or prevent the headaches/muscle pains associated with going low-carb/keto.
