Meet Dr. Carr

As a concierge doctor and board-certified internist in Owings Mills, Dr. Eric Carr believes great care starts with listening. For him, every patient relationship begins by understanding where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go.

"I like to listen," he says. "I can often figure out what’s going on by listening to what my patients are telling me and asking the right questions even before putting the stethoscope on."

"Every patient is different, but I want to know the reason you are in my office," he says. "I want to understand your problems and concerns. And I want to know what your goals are so I can help you achieve them."

Once he understands the full picture, Dr. Carr takes a broad focus, identifying major concerns before working with his patients to improve the key areas that impact long-term health: nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress.

“Primary care is more than just making a medical diagnosis,” he says. “It’s about helping patients live better, healthier lives.”

Dr. Carr emphasizes prevention as a core part of care. He works closely with his patients to lead healthier lifestyles and stay ahead of potential issues through regular health screenings.

"Prevention has to be a big part of everyone’s medical care," he says. "Once a health issue develops and becomes more advanced, it’s much more difficult to treat and get under control. Working together to prevent medical problems from developing leads to longer and more productive lives."

When medical issues do come up, Dr. Carr believes in shared decision-making and makes sure his patients are involved in every step.

"I don’t like to dictate care. Including the patient in the decision-making process for their own care allows them to feel more comfortable with the treatment they are receiving, which results in better outcomes."

Dr. Carr: Beyond the Exam Room

Dr. Carr has spent his entire life in Maryland and loves spending time with his wife and their four children.

He has spent a lot of his free time in the spring and summer coaching his sons’ baseball teams, from tee-ball all the way up to travel baseball.

When he is not coaching, you can find him on the golf course or doing some project around the house.

A diehard sports fan, you can catch him tailgating at Maryland Terrapin football games and cheering on the Ravens and Orioles.
