As a board-certified family physician and concierge doctor in Richmond, VA, Dr. Denee Moore believes the strongest physician-patient relationships begin with listening. She partners with patients to understand their health concerns, goals, and priorities, developing personalized plans focused on prevention, long-term wellness, and improving both their healthspan and lifespan.
Growing up in rural Dinwiddie County, Virginia, Dr. Moore saw firsthand the difference a trusted family physician could make in a community. Caring for multiple generations of families and building lasting relationships inspired her to pursue family medicine.
"What struck me most was the relationships they built," she says. "They cared for entire families over multiple generations and truly knew their patients. That's the kind of physician I always wanted to become."
Dr. Moore earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency through the Virginia Commonwealth University Bon Secours St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program. Throughout her career, she has balanced caring for patients with teaching, research, and leadership in family medicine, earning recognition as Virginia Family Physician of the Year by the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians in 2021.
Her clinical interests include preventive care, chronic disease management, women's health, and evidence-based medicine. She enjoys helping patients make sustainable lifestyle changes, with a focus on realistic goals, consistent habits, and a strong partnership between physician and patient.
Dr. Moore works with patients to understand what they hope to achieve with their health before identifying practical steps they can realistically maintain over time. She believes meaningful change comes through education, shared decision-making, and sustainable habits that fit each person's life.
"I hope my patients would say I'm a great listener who takes the time to understand their health journey and their priorities for health and wellness," she says. "When we understand those things, we can work together to optimize both their healthspan and lifespan.”
For Dr. Moore, concierge medicine provides the time, access, and collaborative support needed to help patients stay healthy rather than simply treat illness.
"Change is difficult. But even small steps can make a large difference in health," she says. "My goal is to help patients make sustainable changes they can maintain over time so they can enjoy healthier, fuller lives."
"When we can work together to help people meet their health goals, that's really the best medicine that we can give people. "
