Meet Dr. Fountain Ellis

As a board-certified family physician in Richmond, VA, Dr. Tami Fountain-Ellis brings more than 25 years of experience in caring for patients at every stage of life. She is committed to delivering care that makes every patient feel valued, understood, and supported.

Dr. Fountain-Ellis focuses on building strong relationships, listening closely, and working alongside patients to create plans that support both their health and quality of life. Her interest in medicine began in high school while volunteering in a nursing home. She formed close bonds with residents and saw firsthand the difference compassion and advocacy could make for people in need of care. That early experience continues to guide her approach today, ensuring patients feel heard and respected at every visit.

“I want my patients to know they have someone in their corner who listens, understands, and truly cares,” she says. “My goal is to work with you to create a plan that supports your health and your life.”

Her approach is built around what she calls C.A.R.E. — compassion for every patient, artistry in tailoring care to the individual, responsibility for guiding their health, and empowerment to help them take charge of it.

She earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her residency in family medicine at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA.

Dr. Fountain-Ellis has a broad range of interests within family medicine, including preventive care, women’s health, cardiovascular health, mental health, and managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. She is passionate about helping patients improve their health through practical lifestyle changes and guiding them toward long-term wellness.

She believes primary care should go beyond treating illness to help people stay healthy and active for as long as possible. She stays current with new medical advancements and is eager to explore tools and approaches that help her patients thrive.

For Dr. Fountain-Ellis, building trust is at the heart of good medicine. She wants patients to feel comfortable sharing not just their symptoms, but also their goals, values, and concerns.
