As a board-certified family physician and concierge doctor in Greenville, SC, Dr. Terence Lillis thinks of himself as an old-fashioned physician. He believes developing close, trusting relationships with his patients allows him to provide the best care possible.
"I know that building trust between doctor and patient is the most important thing," Dr. Lillis says. "If I listen to my patients, I hear their concerns and what they want to achieve, and we can build a relationship that helps them get there.”
Dr. Lillis has extensive experience caring for patients of all ages, from childhood into the latter years of life. He frequently helps patients manage complex or chronic conditions, and he can often take care of routine procedures in the office – from dermatologic procedures and gynecology care to corticosteroid joint injections to relieve arthritis pain.
"One of the reasons I love primary care is the variety and the ability to help people navigate the different stages of life," he says. "I have many patients that I’ve seen for years and being there for them as they work through everything from childhood and young adulthood to parenting stress and life in retirement is very rewarding."
Dr. Lillis began his career as a researcher in microbiology and immunology after obtaining his master's in microbiology. That experience helps him assess patients and provide a personalized plan to improve their health.
"I know that for you to trust me, I need to listen to you and understand where you’ve been and where you want to go with your healthcare," he says.
In the simplest terms possible, Dr. Lillis’ philosophy is based on three things.
"I love helping people, practicing evidence-based medicine, and teaching," he says. "Being a physician allows me to combine all three of those things and use my knowledge and experience to make a difference."
