"Health is not just about the absence of disease," Dr. Joslyn says. "That’s certainly part of my job, but health is about thriving in whatever stage of life you’re in. Getting there requires that a patient and doctor work together in a setting of trust and openness."
When he first meets with a patient, Dr. Joslyn first tries to understand how they are doing and what needs immediate attention. He aims to build trust with the patient and conducts a detailed physical exam to learn about the patient's health and family history.
And he wants to get to know his patients personally — their families, hobbies, and how they see health in their lives.
Dr. Joslyn works with his patients to evolve their approach and well-being so they can optimize their health and prevent illness.
Outside the office, Dr. Joslyn loves spending time with his six adult children and 11 grandchildren.
His grandparents immigrated to the United States from Italy, and he and his wife travel to Italy as much as they can to enjoy the food and culture.
Although managing arthritis himself, Dr. Joslyn enjoys skiing and hiking as much as he can, and he loves reading, particularly about history.
