As a board-certified family physician, Dr. Daniel Brake brings a lifetime of experience, perspective, and purpose to his work in primary care. Raised in a small town as the son of a rural family doctor, he spent his childhood immersed in an environment where medicine meant service, trust, and community.
Dr. Brake discovered his interest in medicine during college, when he realized how deeply he was drawn to the field and how much he admired the way physicians support and serve the people they care for. He found himself fascinated by medicine and inspired by the meaningful relationships that form when you care for people and help them navigate their health.
Primary care quickly felt like a natural fit. He appreciated the opportunity to care for patients through every stage of life and to build long-term connections that make a lasting difference. “That’s what medicine has always been for me,” he says. “Building relationships, understanding people, and helping them improve their health and their lives.”
He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency in family medicine at East Tennessee State University. His clinical interests reflect the heart of primary care, including preventive health, evidence-based guidance, chronic disease management, and helping patients maintain or improve their quality of life.
He focuses on clear communication and helping patients feel comfortable asking questions about any aspect of their health. He describes his style as warm and approachable rather than formal, aiming to put people at ease. “I want people to feel comfortable asking about anything,” he explains. “My role is to listen, understand what they want, and help them make informed choices.”
Whole-person care is central to his philosophy. Dr. Brake believes physical health and mental well-being are closely connected and should be addressed together. “Quality of life matters. It’s not just about treating something wrong but helping people feel their best.”
Some of Dr. Brake’s most meaningful experiences in medicine come from moments when patients or their families reconnect years later to express their appreciation. “When someone tells me I made a difference for them or someone they love, it means everything,” he says. “It puts the work in perspective.”
Above all, Dr. Brake strives to create an environment where patients feel understood, respected, and supported. “I want people to know they have someone who truly listens,” he says. “Someone who cares about their goals and wants to help them live the best life they can.”

Outside the office, Dr. Brake enjoys spending time with his wife and their two sons, often at travel soccer games or other family activities. He also loves technology, gaming with his kids, and cycling on his favorite local trails. His energetic two-year-old puppy keeps him active and entertained.
At home, he’s known for his sense of humor. His family has placed him on a “three dad jokes a day” limit, a rule he follows with good-natured enthusiasm.
