For much of his life, Frank Martin viewed healthcare the way many people do. You schedule your annual checkup, address health concerns as they arise, and hope you stay well.
But as he entered his 60s, his perspective began to shift.
"I was much more concerned with how I would manage wellness than how I would manage illness," Frank says.
Having spent years working in healthcare, Frank understood the realities of today's medical system. He knew that as people age, health concerns often become more complex, and he wanted a physician who could help him stay healthy, not simply treat problems as they appeared.
That realization led him to begin searching for a concierge medicine practice.
Because of his years working in healthcare, Frank understood the demands many primary care physicians face. He believed concierge medicine created the opportunity for a different kind of relationship, one built on time, conversation, and collaboration.
"I knew that a concierge practice would support the kind of in-depth relationship I wanted," he explains.
More than anything, Frank wanted the time to have meaningful conversations with his physician and receive personalized guidance for his health.
When he discovered PartnerMD, one detail immediately stood out.
"The first thing that caught me was the name PartnerMD," he says. "That's exactly what I'm looking for...a partner."
For Frank, that's exactly what healthcare should be. Not simply a physician who diagnoses illness, but someone who works alongside him to help him stay active and healthy for years to come.
Today, Frank works closely with Dr. Rob Norris at PartnerMD's Sandy Springs office.
What he appreciates most isn't simply reviewing lab results or discussing test findings. It's understanding what those findings mean and what he can do about them.
"He translates clinical data into lifestyle changes, which is exactly what I need," Frank says.
If something falls outside the normal range, Frank doesn't leave wondering what comes next. Instead, Dr. Norris helps him understand the changes he can make, whether through nutrition, exercise, or other lifestyle adjustments.
When Frank returns for his next visit, he often sees those improvements reflected in his results.
"It increases the quality of life," he says. "Things have gone very well."

One of the biggest differences Frank has noticed is something many patients experience but rarely describe.
In a traditional primary care visit, one question often leads to another. Before long, the appointment is over.
"A concierge practice gives you the ability to ask the third question...maybe the fourth or fifth," Frank says.
Those additional conversations make all the difference.
Instead of leaving with unanswered questions or scheduling another appointment, Frank has the time to fully understand his health and work through decisions with his physician.
That relationship extends beyond the exam room.
Frank describes everyone at PartnerMD, from the front desk to the clinical team, as friendly, professional, and welcoming. Even though he drives about an hour and 15 minutes for in-person visits, he's remained a member for more than a decade because he values both the care and the relationships he's built.
For Frank, concierge medicine has never been about convenience alone.
It's about having a trusted physician who understands his goals, takes the time to answer his questions, and helps him make informed decisions that support his long-term health.
As he looks ahead, his priorities remain clear.
"I'm much more interested in staying active until the last two weeks," Frank says. "I don't necessarily care how long I live, but I want to enjoy all of it."
For Frank, that's exactly what he found at PartnerMD: not just a doctor, but a true partner in his health.
