A ketogenic diet, you’ll also hear people refer to it as “keto”, is a high-protein, usually high fat, and very low-carbohydrate diet plan. You might have heard of the Atkins Diet that was all the rage in the 2000s. Atkins is an example of a ketogenic diet. These diet plans are called “keto” because they are designed to put your body into a state of ketosis. Ketosis means that you are burning stored fat for fuel. When it comes to your overall health, understanding your body composition is far more important than the number of the scale. For starters, weight alone will tell you nothing about the age, gender, or height of the person in question. Furthermore, thin people without muscle could be less healthy than a heavier person with hulking muscles and a healthy amount of fat. Measuring weight loss via body composition analysis is a far more reliable and effective way to evaluate health, wellness, and weight loss.

To succeed in making the lifestyle changes necessary for long-term weight loss, it’s vital to be honest with yourself about how truly ready you are to lose weight.

Here in Midlothian, there are many weight loss programs from which to choose. You may have even tried a few of them: Weight Watchers, Medi Weight Loss and Jenny Craig are all programs that “promise” healthy weight loss results. So what’s the difference between weight loss programs like these and a medically supervised weight loss program, like MetabolizePMD?

Everyone wants to live a healthy, long life. We often implement diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes to achieve this goal. However, setbacks and stumbling blocks can cause us to get discouraged. As a result, many health and wellness goals are often abandoned before encouraging progress is made.
